3-year-old boy with Duchenne muscular dystrophy made honorary FBI agent

A 3-year-old Helmetta boy with a rare muscular disease was made an honorary FBI agent Friday.
Trent Powers was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. Trent has always been fascinated with law enforcement, so the FBI made his wish of becoming a federal agent come true.
“We are feeling incredibly blessed and thankful. These are memories that we will cherish forever,” says Kimberly Powers, the boy’s mother. “Obviously when there’s a timeline on your son’s life, the hope or promise that he is going to do anything when he grows up will be a dream come true for me.”
Trent was made an honorary Spotswood police officer at a special ceremony in March.
The boy attends therapy sessions three to four times a week. His sessions will need to increase when he grows older.
The average lifespan for someone with Duchenne muscular dystrophy is about 20 years.
