A police cruiser was struck by a car during a routine traffic stop in Mahwah.

The incident happened on Route 17 northbound around 11:00 p.m. Friday night.

Mahwah police say the officer involved had pulled over a driver when a third car crashed into the police cruiser, which then crashed into the first car.

A 3-year-old girl in the car was taken to the hospital as a precaution and the driver who crashed into the police car suffered minor injuries.

The officer was not hurt and no one has been charged.
