Mayor Bill de Blasio hands child Pre-K acceptance letter at BK school

Mayor Bill de Blasio hand delivered a pre-K acceptance letter to a child in Brooklyn Thursday in recognition of All Acceptance Day.
All Acceptance Day is a day when New York City parents find out which pre-K their child has been accepted to.
The mayor presented 4-year-old Adrian and his mother, Stephanie, with the acceptance letter at Sunset Park Elementary, where he will attend classes beginning next year.
The single mother, who works part-time and attends Lehman College, says education is important for her and her son. She says that it is a great relief that Adrian is getting a head start on his education, while she will be able to work and go to school.
At the school, de Blasio also discussed the importance of pre-K and early education, saying that pre-K is important not just to the children who are attending, but also to the parents who can focus on going to school, going to work and helping their children get the social skills and education they need.
