A mother and her three children were severely burned in a fire in East Orange Monday. The fire broke out at a home on North 15th Street. East Orange Fire Chief Dean Spann told News 12 New Jersey the family was on the third floor and the fire started below them. He said by the time they got out, they were burned and suffered smoke inhalation.Officials say the family was taken to the burn unit at St. Barnabas Hospital. According to officials, the mother is 30 years old and the children are 2, 3 and 5 years old.Fire officials say firefighters were able to get the blaze under control fairly quickly. They say they are still investigating what may have caused the blaze and do not know if the home had any smoke alarms.
