Ex-Nutley church volunteer accused of sex assault

A former youth volunteer at a Nutley church was arrested Tuesday amid allegations the 31-year-old sexually assaulted a minor.
Samuel Naranjo was arrested at his job in Port Murry, nearby his Pennsylvania home. Up until two years ago, Naranjo volunteered with a small Spanish-language congregation that rents space at Riverside Community Church in Nutley, the congregation's pastor said.
Police believe it was then that Naranjo formed a relationship and stayed in contact with the 14-year-old female victim. Police said Naranjo had sexual contact with the girl in various locations, but not likely at the church or her school.
Naranjo is charged with 10 counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held on $200,000 bond at Essex County Jail.
