A day after the whereabouts of the Atlantic City mayor were disclosed by his lawyer, Mayor Robert Levy announced Wednesday he is resigning.
Levy?s attorney says the mayor underwent medical treatment last week at Belle Mead?s Carrier Clinic for an undisclosed ailment. He says the mayor has been home recovering for the last five days.
Levy had dropped out of sight two weeks ago amid a federal investigation into whether he lied about his military service. There is a probe into if Levy illegally collected $25,000 in underserved military pension benefits.
