Man gets 20 years for stuffing wife's lover into oven

A man from East Orange was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday for assaulting his wife?s lover and stuffing the man into an oven.
Isaiah Kinney was convicted of aggravated assault. Prosecutors say in 2006, Kinney held Floyd Simmons down while his accomplice and partner, Gloria Jones, beat Simmons with a table leg. Kinney then stuffed Simmons into an oven and turned it on.
Simmons was left with burn marks on his back. Severe swelling forced doctors to remove part of his brain.
The incident occurred a day after Kinney was paroled from prison. He had spent six years behind bars for armed robbery. Prosecutors say Simmons was involved with Kinney?s estranged wife. They say the case is a prime example of jealousy, rage and sex leading to brutal violence.
Kinney will have to serve at least 17 years before he is eligible for parole. Jones already pleaded guilty and is serving an eight-year sentence.
