25 busted in Ocean County cocaine ring

Ocean County officials arrested 25 people Friday in connection to a cocaine distribution ring.

A prosecutor says the case started when police investigated a home invasion case at the Barnegat home of 23-year-old Yasmeya Mehmeti. Officials believe the woman's claims of being robbed and tortured were drug-related.

Officials say the home invasion prompted a month-long probe that resulted in the arrests Friday. The suspects - from all over Ocean County - include husband and wife teams and people of all ages.

The suspects face various charges from conspiracy to possession of cocaine and conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

Officials expect more arrests to follow. Mehmeti, who officials say led the drug ring, is being held on $500,000 bail.
