Democratic state Senator Ellen Karcher conceded the 12th District Senate race to her challenger Tuesday evening.
Vote tallies showed Karcher was behind her Republican challenger, Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck, when she conceded. Beck will now take over the seat in Mercer and Monmouth counties.
In her concession speech, Karcher, who served as state senator for one term, expressed her gratitude to her supporters. She also thanked her father for being her inspiration. Karcher said she plans to spend time with her husband and children when her term ends in January.
In Beck?s acceptance speech, she said it was her honor to be called the 12th District state senator. She also thanked her supporters and those who worked on her campaign.
