Middletown Veterans Day parade turns 50

Veterans were celebrated at Middletown?s 50th Veterans Day parade Sunday, and patrons say this year it was bigger than ever.
Middletown High School South's Eagle Marching Band kicked off the golden anniversary celebration. Band member Kevin Lakhani says he played in honor of veterans? sacrifices.
"It's important for people to remember who protects them and why people get to live the way they get to live,? Lakhani says.
Middletown's World War II veterans waved to the crowd from the parade line. Veteran Felix Cosenza says the parade reminds him of what soldiers accomplished during the war, and how fortunate they are to have come back in one piece.
Trophies were given out for the best banner and the best float. The Elks, American Legion and the New Jersey Leather Necks, an organization of Marines on motorcycles, participated in the parade as well.
