2 escape plane crash at Morristown Municipal Airport

(AP) - A plane crash led to tense moments Thursday at Morristown Municipal Airport.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman says a single-engine plane reported problems with its landing gear. The Cessna 172 circled the field before making an emergency landing.

Television footage showed the craft head for the runway with one wheel down. The wheel appeared to collapse and the plane skidded on its fuselage, with sparks flying.

Emergency crews sprayed foam on the craft and two people got out safely.
