Woman alleges assault by NJ State Police officers

Allegations of sexual assault are being leveled against New Jersey State Police, the Mercer County prosecutor said Monday.
The county prosecutor confirms his office is investigating the accusations of a college student who says she was assaulted early in the morning of Dec. 7.
The prosecutor?s office said the alleged sexual assault took place at an Ewing Township residence. The victim, a 25-year-old woman, says she was assaulted by multiple male individuals including one or more members of the New Jersey State Police.
Law enforcement sources say the woman met her alleged attackers at a nightclub in Trenton. After the alleged incident, Ewing Township police were called. Sources also say the officer or officers were off-duty at the time.
"Once the division was made aware of the allegations, aggressive steps were taken, to insure full and complete cooperation with the investigation,? state police said in an issued statement.
The prosecutor said at least one trooper is under investigation. However, one source says the number could go as high as four.
