Heavy winds cause delays at Newark Airport
Heavy winds from the nor?easter that hit New Jersey caused some major delays at Newark Liberty International Airport Sunday.
Due to winter storms throughout the country, air travelers arriving at Newark experienced delays of two hours, on average. Nearby airports in New York experienced similar delays, with almost two-hour backups at JFK and 90-minute backups at LaGuardia.
Locals waiting to pick up loved ones were forced to wait for hours.
?I?ve been waiting here one hour and 20 minutes, and they?re still not here,? Everoy Laing, an East Windsor resident, said. Antonella DiFiore, who was picking up her cousin from Newark, said she waited two hours before her cousin landed.
The FAA said the key problem in Newark was wind and weather. Residents agreed that while travel was slow, it was worth the wait so that their loved ones arrived safely.
