While many kids his age have been sitting at home playing the guitar hero video game, 14-year-old Zachary Page from Bergen County has been playing his six-string alongside real-life guitar heroes.
Page, a student at New York's School of Rock and Oakland's Barnstable Academy, has shared the stage with famous guitarists John Anderson of Yes and John Wetton of King Crimson. The teenager has also played with rock legend Peter Frampton.
Anderson had some positive words in a YouTube video of him playing with the teenage guitarist. "This guy can really play cool," said Anderson.
The teenager doesn't let the music get in the way of his studies. According to school officials, Page has the highest GPA at his school. His mother says Page doesn't settle for mediocrity when it comes to school and music.
"I've been telling him, it's not the end of the world to not get an A," says his mother, Ivy Goldstein. "That's his bar he put up there, and it's the same thing with music. He doesn't settle for just being pretty good, he wants to be amazing."
