Parkway, turnpike toll hike details expected
More information regarding the imminent toll increase on the New Jersey Turnpike and Parkway is expected to come forth next week.
Gov. Jon Corzine is expected to outline the toll hike at his State of the State speech Tuesday. Corzine hopes to use part of the revenue for road and bridge maintenance.
Residents have mixed feelings about the increase. Some favor the move, saying they don't mind forking over the cash if it's being used properly. "It's a cash cow," said driver Jim Robinson.
Others fear the move will increase traffic jams on free roads like Route 1. "I think a lot of people will go on the local roads and try to avoid the tolls," one commuter told News 12 New Jersey.
