One of the two escaped convicts from the Union County Jail has been captured, while the other is believed to be in Mexico.
Jose Espinosa and Otis Blunt escaped from the jail in December. The two used photos to hide the holes they dug through the cinderblock walls to escape.
Authorities found Espinosa, with a female companion, in a Summer Street home in Elizabeth Tuesday night. They were tipped off by an informant that Espinosa had been in the basement of the home since his escape.
Meanwhile, Blunt is believed to be in Mexico, where, apparently, the Rev. Al Sharpton attempted to meet with him. Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow says he reached out to Sharpton, but has yet to hear back from him.
?I?m not suggesting in this case that Rev. Sharpton interfered. I am just concerned, however, with the fact that, at least from what I read, he has had contact with Mr. Blunt and we?re searching for him and we don?t know where he is,? Romankow says.
