Deadline looms for presidential primary registration

The registration deadline for New Jersey's presidential primary is quickly approaching.

Voters interested in participating must register by Jan. 15. A higher turnout is expected for this election compared to 2004's showing.

Residents can only participate in the primary for their registered party. Unaffiliated voters are able to register the day of the election.

The deadline to switch parties has already passed, but primary voters interested in changing affiliations can cancel their registration and re-register before Jan. 15.

New Jersey is among 21 states whose primary falls on Feb. 5, "Super Tuesday."
