A mother in Piscataway is charged with the murder of her 9-month-old daughter, a day after police say she tried to drown the child.
Police say 34-year-old Wella Eng attempted to drown her daughter Thursday. Authorities responded to a 911 call that an infant wasn?t breathing at Eng?s home. Emergency workers performed CPR and the baby was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She died Friday afternoon.
Eng lived in the home with her husband, 7-year-old and infant. Neighbors say they are saddened by the incident.
Eng was previously arrested for leaving her baby alone in a car in November. She posted bail and was working with a Division of Youth and Family Services caseworker. The agency says the caseworker called Eng to check on her the same day she attempted to drown her daughter.
