Police try to identify fatal stabbing victim in Newark

Police say a teenage girl was stabbed to death in Newark Sunday and they are now trying to identify who she is.

Police were called to 365 Parkside Place near Dayton Street just after 10 p.m. That?s where they found the unidentified girl in a parking lot. Neighbors say the girl got into an argument with another girl over a boy. They say the second girl stabbed the victim in the neck.

Authorities say the girl, believed to be about 15, was wearing a black jacket, a gray sweater, blue jeans and black sneakers. Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information about the stabbing or the girl?s identity should call the Essex County Homicide Squad at (973) 621-4586.
