Investigators found a body Tuesday in the gutted Newark rooming house that was destroyed by flames a day earlier.
A fire broke out at 129 Wright St. Monday afternoon and quickly spread to the neighboring building, 127 Wright St. Officials say 18 people lived in 129 Wright St. and 15 lived in the building next door.
Firefighters had difficulty battling the flames due to the cold weather. They also said the fire kept relighting, making it difficult to search the buildings.
A neighbor has identified the victim as Danny Nickerson. However, the medical examiner has not positively identified the body.
Meanwhile, both buildings were destroyed in the fire and will have to be demolished. Investigators say they are unsure how the fire started, but say it doesn?t look suspicious.
