3 babies rescued from burning Newark building
Family members were able to save three babies from a two-alarm fire that tore through a duplex in Newark Tuesday.
A 3-week-old girl and a pair of 3-month-old twin boys were all checked at University Hospital after being carried from the burning home. The children were among 19 residents at the three-family duplex when it went up in flames.
Family members of the children say they feel lucky they were able to get them out safely.
"I'm surprised all three of them made it out alive the way they did," says Leslie Warren. Warren is the 3-week-old's great aunt.
Residents believe the fire started in the building's basement. Fire officials are investigating.
