Residents across New Jersey woke up Friday to good news.The federal government is getting ready to cut checks to millions of American taxpayers. The Senate passed a $168 billion economic stimulus plan Thursday, which President Bush has said he will sign.Single individuals earning less than $75,000 will get checks for $600. Couples making less than $150,000 will get $1,200 and there is an allotment of $300 per child. Seniors and disabled veterans will also be getting checks in the mail.Some Garden State residents told News 12 New Jersey that they most likely will wind up using the extra money to pay bills or property taxes that they are struggling to stay current with.The government is hoping taxpayers will receive their checks by the beginning of the summer.
