Vietnam vet dies in 'uninhabitable' Newark building
A Vietnam veteran died in a Newark apartment complex tenants describe as uninhabitable and say has no heat.
Marion Wiley, 68, died while living at 399 13th Ave. Wiley's niece Cristal Flounoy says she begged the veteran to move before it was too late.
Flounoy says she brought Wiley a heater and thermals after he complained his apartment was freezing. Fellow tenants also say the heat is a problem.
"I'd rather be living outdoors," says tenant Sandra Brown. "I get my heat from my oven."
A Newark City Hall spokesperson says the building has been cited several times. All of the cases were taken to court, and the mayor's office says all of those cases are in disposition.
