A state trooper and his female companion were found dead in Stokes State Park over the weekend following an apparent snowmobile crash.

State police say that 25-year-old Trooper Curtis Rohel and 22-year-old Rebecca Skorupka were found by a passerby riding an ATV. People who frequent the park said they?re not surprised to hear about a crash in that particular area.

?Driving along the road, there?s twists and turns. There?s places where there?s no guardrails on the side and there?s trees below it,? said James Guest, a Sussex County resident.

According to preliminary police reports, the trooper?s snowmobile hit a guardrail, throwing him and his companion. Police said that the pair were wearing helmets.
