Diesel car engines make major comeback

As gas prices rise, some drivers are paying more now for diesel in order to reap a big payoff later. In Linden, diesel fuel is currently more expensive than gasoline. However, experts say the current crop of diesel engines are just as quiet as gasoline engines and have at least 25 percent better fuel economy in the long run. Diesel supporters also say the fuel is more environmentally friendly than gasoline.

Some drivers agree when they hear the word "diesel," they no longer associate it with loud trucks and black exhaust. Car manufacturers, such as Mercedes, are also getting the clue by making cars that run on diesel fuel.
