1 dead as minivan hits 2 boys in Freehold

A 13-year-old boy's life was cut tragically short in an accident near Route 9 in Freehold Wednesday.

Another child is receiving medical attention and has been listed in extremely critical condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center.

The two boys were skateboarding along Bar Harbor Road at the time of the accident. According to police, an 84-year-old man driving a minivan crashed into the boys.

"I just saw sneakers and broken skateboards all over the floor," says Kenneth Pikowski, who took the teenager's mother to the hospital, where she learned of his death.

Police are investigating the accident.
