A Ramsey police officer has found himself on the other side of the law for allegedly stealing more than $100,000 from a police union fund.
Officer Jeffery Kimmel was arrested Friday by his own department for the alleged theft. Kimmel had served as the treasurer of the union he's accused of pilfering money from.
"We had funds for some of the children of PBA members who have some health issues and all that money was gone," says Ramsey Police Chief Bryan Gurney.
Kimmel is charged with theft and official misconduct. He's currently suspended without pay and out on bail.
Police say if Kimmel is convicted he'll likely serve jail time.
