Essex Co. bands together against foreclosure

A Newark task force is taking their mission to the streets to help homeowners hurt by the mortgage crisis.
Thirty organizations came together in November to form the Newark/Urban Essex Task Force, a group aimed at fighting foreclosures. The task force is now launching a neighborhood preservation patrol.
The patrol?s goal is to advise residents where they can go for help. Literature is being distributed and residents are being told to pass on information to anyone who might need it.
The group says homeowners should educate themselves and live by a slogan used on task force shirts ? ?Nothing is worse than doing nothing.?
