Kids in one Bergen County town will have to find a new place to cool off this summer - Paramus is closing its only pool after contaminants were found on the grounds. The property sits on an old celery farm and is adjacent to West Brook Middle School, which was cleaned up last year after high levels of pesticides were found at the school. "The reason we believe that happened here was because when this was built back in the '60s, of course there was no soil testing and they brought in soil to lay down for top soil,? says Paramus Mayor James Tedesco. The mayor stresses this recent finding poses no imminent danger to any resident. Tedesco adds that neighboring towns have opened up their pools for temporary membership for Paramus residents.
