'Time Bandit' swipes $42,000 watch from Paramus shop

Police in Paramus say they are on the lookout for a suspect who stole a rare, expensive watch from a jewelry store inside the Garden State Plaza mall.
Detective Robert Wright calls the theft of the gold and diamond watch worth $42,000 from Matthew Michaels Jewelry a "crime with gusto."
According to police, the thief used an elaborate plan to pilfer the timepiece by conning the salesman into thinking he was making a sale. He then grabbed the watch and jetted, managing to outrun the clerk to freedom.
Authorities believe they have a good chance of catching the thief. The watch is extremely rare and police feel they'll be able to track it down if the suspect attempts to sell it. There is also surveillance footage of the robbery.
Anyone with information about the robbery or anyone who can identify the suspect is being asked to contact Paramus police at (201)262-3400.
