Nude intruder puts Edison women on alert
Women in Edison have been advised to lock their doors and windows as a naked intruder lurks the city.
Police say a 39-year-old woman awoke at 3 a.m. Thursday to find a naked stranger in her bed caressing her inner thigh area. The intruder allegedly sneaked in through an unlocked sliding door.
According to police, the suspect ran out of the condo without pausing to slip his pants back on after the woman woke up. A search of the condominium complex found no trace of him, police say.
Authorities are urging residents to protect themselves with common sense.
"Prior to going to bed, you want to secure all your windows and doors - just to keep people like this out of your residence," says Lt. Joseph Shannon, of the Edison Police Department.
Police also advise keeping blinds and curtains drawn at night, as the suspect may have been peeping through windows trying to find women living alone.
