A Bergenfield officer is in good condition after being shot while vacationing with friends in the Bahamas last month.Officer John Casper, an 18-year veteran of the Bergenfield Police Department, was shot in the hand and in the chest while trying to stop a purse-snatching. A Bahaman police officer rushed Casper to the hospital were he received medical assistance, though the bullets were not removed until he returned to the United States. "By the time I walked to the hospital, I had this inner peace and so it then allowed me to really think rationally," says Casper.Bahaman police have arrested two men and charged them with attempted murder.
