Newark teen sought in slaying surrenders

A Newark teen suspected in a fatal shooting at a graduation party has turned herself into authorities.

Police say 18-year-old Nicole Guyette surrendered late Saturday night and faces charges of murder and aggravated assault.

Guyette is alleged to have shot and killed Sujeiti Ocasio, also 18, at 196 Lincoln St. outside of the party. Police say Guyette shot Ocasio after they exchanged heated words.

The bullet also struck 15-year-old Jasmine Perez. She was taken to the hospital and released.

Friends say Ocasio was the first in her family to graduate from high school and planned to become a nurse.
