Questions swirl around Assemblyman Cohen
State Assemblyman Neil Cohen remains in a psychiatric hospital Saturday after staffers allegedly found child pornography on his office computer.
Sources tell News 12 New Jersey that the 57-year-old veteran democratic politician's resignation is imminent. The state Attorney General's Office seized Cohen's computers Wednesday after staffers in his Union County office claimed they discovered the pornographic images.
Officials say Cohen checked himself into a psychiatric facility for treatment, but declined to comment further. It is not yet clear who would replace Cohen were he to resign or what would happen to bills the assemblyman is associated with.
Senate President Richard Codey has exclusively told News 12 New Jersey that he finds the allegations, if true, to be "disgusting." Codey said that because of Cohen's work protecting children from predators, the assemblyman is the last person he would expect to face such accusations.
Cohen has not been charged with any crimes.
