Body washes ashore in Long Branch

Police are investigating a dead body that was found in Long Branch.Authorities say the body, which was washed up naked, is that of a white or hispanic male in his 40s.

Officials say a woman found the body around 7:45 a.m. Monday as she was walking near Ocean and Madison avenues. Police blocked off the boardwalk along Ocean Avenue for about two hours as they tried to determine how the body got there and how the man may have died.Officials have not revealed much yet about the case, but say due to the recent conditions of the surf, it is possible the man died in another state. There is no word yet if the victim might be a missing swimmer from Long Island.
