Police: Beware coyotes in Wall Township

Police in Wall Township are warning residents to be on the lookout for coyotes after recent area sightings.

Trevor Ossenfort and his friend say they told police about an incident recently while on Baileys Corner Road. "One night we were coming back from our high school ? and we saw two coyotes," he says.

Police are urging people to use caution and report any unusual daytime sightings. The state's Division of Fish and Wildlife also says that a coyote should never be fed, trash bins should be covered and secured and that bird feeders should be removed at night.

While police say none of the coyotes spotted in Wall Township have exhibited any aggressive behavior, they say that past incidents should serve as a warning.

Two children were attacked by the wild animals at dusk in separate incidents last year in Middletown. Both children made a full recovery from neck and head injuries.
