Clark mayor approves of traffic circle redesign
A redesign of the traffic circle off of Exit 135 on the Garden State Parkway is expected to make exiting the parkway easier, says the mayor of Clark.
"There won't be any backups coming off the parkway, which will be a big safety factor," says Clark Mayor Sal Bonaccorso.
The mayor says the changes include two connector lanes being built near Brant Avenue and Valley Road and the addition of four traffic lights. In the past, Bonaccorso says, having no lights meant drivers would speed through the circle.
"God forbid there's a fender-bender, [it] shouldn't be a bad fender-bender," he says.
For the most part, Bonaccorso says he is content with the improvements. However, he says some minor adjustments are still needed. The mayor says the real test will come when school reopens and more cars take to the road.
