Agents in Newark celebrated the FBI's hundredth birthday Thursday.
The Newark branch has been in continuous operation since 1937. More than 500 FBI employees gathered for the centennial celebration.
The agency is comprised of 12,000 agents now, 3,000 of which are female and lists more than 30,000 people under its employ. At its inception, only 34 investigators made up the FBI.
Newark agents say the FBI is continuing to grow and the times are changing.
"We agents have deployed in different areas that we've never done before, so we really expanded our role in counter-terrorism and world-wide focus," says agent Amy Pickett.
