Paterson woman allegedly hurls 2 kittens out window
A Paterson woman is facing serious charges for allegedly throwing kittens out an apartment building window.
Natalie Rodriguez had been charged with two counts of animal cruelty, punishable by up to a year in jail and $2,000 in fines. Those charges were upgraded after the death of one of the cats.
According to a friend of Rodriguez's, the woman hurled the cats out the window in anger after they chewed the cord of her cell phone charger.
"What would have happened if there was a child next to this person," asks John DeCando, of Paterson Animal Control.
The kittens landed on the sidewalk, unable to move. One died overnight at a veterinarian's office. The second is clinging to life.
"She's sick," says Linette Rosa, of Paterson. "She's a psycho. She needs help."
