Gas prices in N.J. set to rise due to Hurricane Ike

Drivers in the Garden State are being forced to dig deeper into their pockets because of Hurricane Ike.The hurricane caused power outages in the Gulf Coast, making refineries shut down. The shutdowns affected supply, sending prices up.Gas prices along the Garden State Parkway can only go up once a week, so prices are expected to see a significant increase by the weekend.According to NewJerseyGasPrices.com, the current average for a gallon of regular gas in the state is $3.51. Nationally, the average price is $3.84.The chief analyst for the Oil Price Information Service says gas will likely be close to $4 a gallon through the end of September.
