Second dolphin found dead on private beach
A second dolphin in as many weeks was found dead on a private beach Thursday as authorities continue to clash over appropriate actions to take.
The latest dolphin was discovered on the Middletown side of the Navesink River near Jon Bon Jovi?s estate. Officials will not disclose exactly where in accordance with the property owner?s wishes.
Dock Manager of Fair Haven Yacht Works Mark Modderman found the first dead dolphin two weeks ago on the river banks in Fair Haven. He hopes that the authorities will do something about the rest of the pod.
"I think the time is very limited,? said Modderman. "The sooner they can do something about this the better."
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center wants to advance slow moving boats equipped with electronic sound devices to push the dolphins to sea, but the center says the feds have taken a ?wait and see? approach.
A conference call between the Stranding Center and the feds will commence Friday.
