A school bus carrying 31 preschool children coming back from a field trip Monday overturned while exiting Route 78 in Newark, hospitalizing more than a dozen.
The children, students at Proceed Incorporate in Elizabeth, were returning from a day at a pumpkin patch. Only minor injuries were reported.
A second bus was traveling with the vehicle, but was not involved in the accident.
Parents scrambled to the accident scene and to UMDNJ, where 12 of the injured were taken by ambulance. Nine others were taken to Jersey City Medical Center.
