Thrift stores get boost from slumping economy

Thrift stores are seeing a jump in business as consumers pinch pennies due to the slumping economy.

Goodwill stores saw a 9 percent sales increase for September. October is usually the company's busiest month, and sales are expected to reach all-time highs this season.

Goodwill representatives say each sale supports their top priority, which is providing services for people with disabilities. They also call shopping at thrift stores environmentally friendly and the ultimate way to recycle.
