Police are searching for two suspects who tied up and terrorized a 13-year-old girl during a home invasion in Garfield Tuesday.
The incident allegedly occurred around 12 p.m. inside an apartment on Monroe Street. The suspects barged in and ransacked the place, but didn't take anything.
The girl was home sick from school, according to Hermelinda Gutierrez, the girl's mother. The two men broke in while the mother was out picking up lunch.
According to Gutierrez, her daughter was lying on the floor when she returned. The teenager had a sweater wrapped tightly around her neck and cords tied around her arms and legs.
Gutierrez says her daughter was so traumatized by the event that she is staying at a friend's house and scared to come home.
