101 fugitives nabbed by task force

After a five-day sting operation, 101 fugitives have been arrested in and around the Monmouth County area.

Police say that 430 bags of heroin, other assorted drugs and a fake gun were confiscated after the operation. Most of the fugitives were arrested around the Asbury Park area. Investigators say that many were wanted for manslaughter, robbery, gang-related activity and weapons possession.

Monmouth County Sherriff Kim Guadagno has been working with the United States Marshall?s office. The task force utilized state, federal and international databases.

?The goal for this task force is to target only violent fugitives who are out on parole, violated parole or have not yet been caught in the county of Monmouth,? says Guadagno.

The sharing of information may lead to more busts in the future.
