Jackson teen killed in Freehold Road crash

A Jackson teenager was killed Thursday night in a car crash on Freehold Road. The street is known in the community for having dangerous turns that drivers tend to take at illegally high speeds.
Megan McCan, 17, lost control of her car and crashed into a tree just across the road from the site of another recent crash.
Friends and family mourned her loss Friday and created a memorial at the site of the crash. One friend, Holly Albany, placed flowers and a balloon where tire marks, broken car parts and one of McCan's shoes remained.
"She was going to be a nurse," Albany says. "She always wanted to help everyone. She wanted the best for everyone and put people ahead of her."Police are investigating the cause of the crash. The safety of the road is set to be a topic at the next Jackson Township meeting.
