Water main break causes problems in 3 N.J. counties

A 60-inch water main left residents without water and led to a boil-water advisory for three New Jersey counties Tuesday afternoon.

An estimated 100,000 customers were affected by the break.

The pipe burst on Weston Canal Road between Schoolhouse Lane and Apgar Road in Franklin Township. Weston Canal Road was closed as a result of the break.

All towns within a 10-15 mile radius were affected, including towns in Somerset, Union and Middlesex counties. Residents in Hillsborough and Bridgewater saw a loss in water pressure due to the break.

A boil water advisory in effect for the following towns: Dunellen, Edison, Middlesex, Piscataway, South Plainfield, Bound Brook, Bridgewater, Green Brook, Hillsborough, Millstone, Montgomery, Raritan, Somerville, South Bound Brook, Clark, Linden, Plainfield City and Roselle Boro.
