Tolls go up on N.J. Turnpike, Garden State Parkway

Drivers across New Jersey will now have to pay more for tolls when they hit the road.Toll increases went into effect at midnight Sunday for the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway.According to the New Jersey Turnpike Authority, the average trip on the New Jersey Turnpike will go up 50 cents to $1.70. The average trip on the Garden State Parkway has increased from 35 cents to 50 cents.New Jersey Turnpike Authority Chairman Kris Kolluri says the hikes were needed for a variety of projects that will maintain and improve the state's infrastructure. Another round of toll increases are scheduled to go into effect in 2012.New Jersey Turnpike Authority
