N.J. attorney: Obama is not a natural born citizen
An attorney from New Jersey is among more than a dozen different lawyers to challenge Presiden t-elect Barack Obama?s eligibility to be president of the United States.
Leo Donofrio, a New Jersey attorney, claims that Obama is not technically a natural born citizen, one of the requirements listed in the Constitution to run for president. Donofrio?s lawsuit is the first like it to make it to the Supreme Court.
Unlike the other lawsuits of its kind, Donofrio does not challenge Obama?s Hawaiian birth certificate, but rather claims that presidential candidates must have two American born parents. Obama?s father was Kenyan, which Donofrio claims entitles Obama to dual citizenship with the U.S. and Kenya. To Donofrio, this means Obama may express loyalty to Kenya over America.
Many legal experts say Supreme Court justices will not agree to hear the case.
Donofrio also claims that Sen. John McCain (R?Ariz.) was not eligible to run for president either because he was born on a U.S. military base in Panama.
