Fire destroys Passaic meat processing plant

Firefighters in Passaic had their hands full early Tuesday battling a fire at a meat processing plant.

The plant, which is located on the corner of Passaic and Market streets, was completely destroyed by the fire. Luckily, no employees inside the building were hurt. Some firefighters received minor injuries.

Passaic Fire Chief Patrick Trentacost said the fire seems to have been created by a big walk-in box or freezer. Fire officials are now looking into exactly what caused the fire.
